Adega - Podes descrever a ELSA e os seus objetivos?
Tomás, Presidente ELSA - A ELSA (The European Law Students' Association) é uma associação internacional, independente, de caráter apolítico e sem fins lucrativos gerida por e para estudantes de direito e recém-juristas com o intuito de fomentar a excelência académica e pessoal, para além dos estudos comuns nas Faculdades, assim como criar um mundo justo. Fundada em 1981, a ELSA incentiva o desenvolvimento pessoal e profissional de jovens juristas dando-lhes todo o tipo de ferramentas necessárias, enquanto procura promover valores de honra e respeito para com a multiculturalidade e os direitos humanos.
A - Como surgiu esta parceria geral entre a ELSA U.Porto e a Adega Leonor? Porque funciona tão bem?
T - Em 2023, a ELSA U.Porto organizou uma segunda edição da sua SELS (Summer ELSA Law School) Porto com o tema Law & Tech, que contou com 18 participantes oriundos de toda a Europa. Ao longo desta semana foram desenvolvidas inúmeras atividades que contaram com a ajuda da Adega Leonor. Mesmo sendo este o primeiro contacto com o estabelecimento, a Adega Leonor mostrou-se sempre disponível e recetiva a todos os projetos que lhes apresentávamos e, por isso, pensámos que não faria sentido limitar a nossa parceria a essa semana.
Adega - Can you describe ELSA and its mission for us?
Tomás, ELSA President - ELSA (The European Law Students' Association) is an international, independent, non-political and not-for-profit association run by and for law students and new lawyers with the aim of fostering academic and personal excellence beyond the ordinary studies at university, as well as creating a just world. Founded in 1981, ELSA encourages the personal and professional development of young lawyers by giving them all the necessary tools, while seeking to promote values of honour and respect for multiculturalism and human rights.
A - How did this partnership come to life? Why does it work so well?
T - In 2023, ELSA U.Porto organised a second edition of its SELS (Summer ELSA Law School) Porto on the theme of Law & Tech, with 18 participants from all over Europe. Throughout the week, numerous activities were organised with the help of Adega Leonor. Even though this was our first contact with the establishment, Adega Leonor was always available and receptive to all the projects we presented to them, so we thought it wouldn't make sense to limit our partnership to that week.

Adega - Qual é a experiência/feedback da comunidade internacional em relação à Adega Leonor?
Tomás, Presidente ELSA - Bastante positivo. A Adega Leonor é conhecida por ser um espaço aberto a todos os estudantes, quer nacionais quer internacionais, e essa hospitalidade refletiu-se durante toda a semana da SELS Porto. Os participantes adoraram o ambiente, tiveram a oportunidade de experimentar coisas que nunca tinham experimentado antes e de conhecer um bocado melhor aquilo que é a cultura portuguesa, tudo graças à Adega Leonor.
A - Que Planos/ Objetivos há para o futuro?
T - Para já, além da colaboração entre a Adega Leonor e a ELSA U.Porto naquilo que são as edições da SELS Porto e demais projetos realizados ao longo do ano, não há planos em concreto. No entanto, iremos trabalhar em conjunto para usufruir da parceria ao máximo e realizar iniciativas que consigam aproveitar o que cada um tem para oferecer.
Adega - What is the international community's experience with Adega Leonor?
Tomás, ELSA President - Very positive. Adega Leonor is known for being open to all students, both national and international, and this hospitality was reflected throughout the SELS Porto week. The participants loved the atmosphere, they had the chance to try things they'd never tried before and to get to know Portuguese culture a little better, all thanks to Adega Leonor.
A - Are there future plans?
T For now, apart from the collaboration between Adega Leonor and ELSA U.Porto on the SELS Porto editions and other projects throughout the year, there are no specific plans. However, we will work together to make the most of the partnership and organise initiatives that make the most of what each has to offer.
